About 180 Devotions for the School Year

Make It Count: 180 Devotions for the School Year provides encouragement for each day of the school year. Each devotion features a short inspirational thought or quotation, as well as a brief passage of Scripture that will help students focus on their daily faith walk and strengthen their connection with God.

High school is filled with busyness and laughter, stress and work. Make It Count reminds readers to take a deep breath, treasure the moments, tell the special people in their lives just how much they love them, and make the most of every day.

My Thoughts on 180 Devotions for the School Year

This devotional book has 180 different devotions which are just a few short sentences each – the perfect length for busy students to read as they head out the door each day. The fun part is that each day is labeled with a number – a number that begins at 180, and decreases by 1 each day as it counts down to the end of the school year.

Each devotion is followed by a Bible verse, one that you’ll likely already know or one that you’ll remember in your mind as you go through the school day.

My favorite part (besides the countdown to the end of the school year Winking smile)? The fact that this book can speak to anyone, not only just high schoolers. I could read this book with my 6 and 8 year old daughters each morning before we walk out the door. I might have to paraphrase a few passages here and there to make the words and messages easier to understand for a younger audience, but it would work, and work well. So a parent would not necessarily need separate devotions for the kids of different ages.

This is a book that you can keep at the kitchen table or in the car, wherever your family could see it and remember to pick it up and read it daily. Or the high school student could keep it in their backpack or school locker. It would literally take less than 2 minutes to read a reminder of how Jesus would want us to face the day and the referenced Bible verse.

This would make a great back-to-school present.
