Review and Giveaway: Thomas Kinkade’s Christmas Lodge – Ends 11/15/11

About Christmas Lodge

image Thomas Kinkade presents Christmas Lodge: a place where a heart-warming past and loving future meet for one remarkable group of people. During a weekend trip to the mountains, Mary (Erin Karpluk) finds herself at the now- dilapidated lodge where she spent the holidays with her family growing up. She becomes determined to restore the building to its former glory. Inspired by her grandfather and guided by her grandmother in heaven, Mary throws herself into the project, and during the process finds herself drawn to Jack (Michael Shanks), a handsome man who loves the lodge as much as she does. Historically unlucky in love, this chance encounter allows Mary to renew her faith in life and discover her one true love. For an uplifting story about the importance of faith, family and the true holiday spirit, go to the Christmas Lodge.

My Thoughts on Christmas Lodge

I enjoyed it. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t horrible either. If I had to rate the movie with stars, I’d give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5. Mary and her boyfriend go hiking in the woods near her home, and they end up rescuing a little girl whose father lives in what Mary knows as The Christmas Lodge. When Mary and her boyfriend get the little girl back to the lodge, a place Mary used to spend all of her holidays at with her family when she was younger, Mary gets so excited to visit this place that’s been in her heart and memories for most of her life.

While The Christmas Lodge is in disrepair, Mary and Jack, the new owner of the lodge. decide they’ll try to work together to restore it. Mary’s boyfriend doesn’t seem to feel the same way about the lodge. No spoiler alerts here, so you’ll need to pick up the movie to see how it ends. Like I said, I enjoyed it, but there were just some parts that appeared to be forced by the actors. While it wasn’t bad acting, it just wasn’t great acting. As far as a nice holiday story goes, it was good.

Every year on our Christmas vacation to either my parents house or my in-laws we all go sledding. It is so much fun and the kids all love playing in the snow.

Unfortunately, my family is one of those dysfunctional families where we don’t get along during the holidays. Someone always gets their feelings hurt, someone cries, someone slams out of the house cursing and screaming. So if it were up to me, I’d stay home curled up on the sofa, eating my solitary dinner, with the fireplace roaring. But I go with the rest of the family – so I guess I’m as dysfunctional as they are!

Sadly, all of that is true. I wish we could enjoy ourselves during the holidays, but it never seems to happen.

  5. We love to drive around and look at all the Christmas lights. I love Christmas movies. Thanks for the giveaway.

Our favorite things to do as a family are bake Christmas cookies and play games. On Christmas Eve someone (usually my dad) reads the Christmas story out of the Bible and then Mom will read Twas the Night Before Christmas to the grandkids. We end by singing Christmas carols with my dad playing the piano. Wonderful family traditions that we all enjoy.
