Based on the best-selling children’s book, The Gruffalo is a magical tale of a mouse who takes a stroll through the woods. Encountering three predators who all wish to eat him, the adorable and confident mouse has to use his wits to survive. He tells his predators that he is meeting a monster, which scares each of them, but what will mouse do when comes face to face with the terrible product of his imagination?
The Gruffalo was just released on DVD for $12.99! The Gruffalo is narrated by Helena Bonham Carter and features the voices of Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid from Harry Potter!), Tom Wilkinson and John Hurt.
This enchanting tale about courage, wit and determination provides a great forum to talk with your kids about feeling vulnerable or scared, particularly as they start school for the very first time or are embarking on a new school year (which can indeed feel like a walk through a dark, scary forest!).
Bonus content includes a photo gallery and a “making of” documentary. The total running time is 40 minutes.
“The Gruffalo” aired on ABC Family in December 2010 and is scheduled to be re-broadcast on ABC Family during the 2011 holiday season. Also nominated for a BAFTA, the film was directed by Jakob Schuh and Max Lang and produced by Michael Rose and Martin Pope.
